Saul Hudson (A.K.A. Slash) was born July 23, 1965 in London and raised in Stoke on Trent, Stafford-Shire, England
Slash's mother Ola Hudson is African American and of Nigerian decent and was a costume designer for many famous artist's such as David Bowie, John Lennon and Diana Ross.Slash's father Anthony Hudson was and album cover designer for artists such as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.
At the age of 11 Slash and his mother moved from England to Los Angeles California and soon after his father joined them(Slash Remained an immigrant for a long time).At first slash had a rough transition into California, he was an outsider at school and didn't really fit in with the kids.
Slash lived a pretty unconventional lifestyle often surrounded by friends of the family who were also artistically gifted.
His house was constantly visited by famous artist such as David Geffen, Ron Wood and Iggy Pop.
Slash eventually got his nickname from family friend Seymour Cassel a famous Detroit born actor.
By the Mid 70's Slash's Parents separated forcing him to live with his grandmother until things settled at home.
Around this time Slash found interest in BMX riding. He went on to win seven awards and cash prizes in competitions.
Teen Years

Slash attended Beverly Hills High School (Lenny Kravitz and Slash's band mate Steven Adler also attended this school).
At Age 15 Slash was given his first guitar by his grandmother and although it had only one string it was enough to learn to play.
All other interest froze once slash picked up that guitar.He would often go sit on the bleachers at school and play whenever he got the chance.
Slash would devote many hours just sitting and playing his guitar.
Slash accredits Aerosmith's album ROCKS for changing his life and giving him something to identify with.
Slash was doing poorly in school and by 11th grade decided to drop out to play music full-time.
Since Slash lived in Los Angeles He was around inspiring young artist like himself all the time.
wherever he could go to play his guitar was all Slash could think about.Slash played with multiple local bands but they were all short lived.
At this Time Slash met up with Steven Adler to form a Tribute band Named Road Crew.
Career
Original Members of Guns n' Roses
After multiple changes to the line-up in Road Crew, Slash and Steven merged with the band Hollywood Rose under the new name Guns n' Roses in 1985.
opening for bigger bands from 85 to 86 Guns n' Roses became very popular very fast. During this time the band made some of their most well Recognized songs; Welcome to the Jungle, Paradise City and Sweet Child o' Mine.Guns n' Roses were scouted by major labels but they decided on Geffen records where Slash's father had worked. In 1987 GnR Released there first album Appetite for destruction selling 28 million copies world wide. Guns n' Roses became a world wide hit and sold albums well into eight figures. During the bands four year hiatus in 1990 Michael Jackson requested that slash work with him on an album titled Dangerous. Slash agreed and played guitar for both Give in to Me and Black and White (slash would go on to do various other songs with Michael Jackson during live performances).
Slash also preformed with Lenny Kravitz on a song titled always on the run.
Still During the hiatus Slash composed several songs but they were rejected by GnR's vocalist Alx Rose. Slash later used his material to form a side band name Slash's Snakepit.
After the hiatus in 1991, Slash finally became a us citizen and Guns n' Roses Made two new albums. In 1995 slash took his side band and created an album of their own titled It's Five O'clock Somewhere and even with very little promotion from Geffen records they were still able to sell 1.2 million copies. After many heated arguments with Axl on the new direction of the band Slash decided to resign from Guns n' Roses in 1996. After leaving GnR Slash formed a blues cover band for a gig in Budapest, Hungary. Slash decided to take his blues band across California from 1996 til fall 1997. Slash then revived his side project to make more music. Slash was getting demos from over 200 Musicians who wanted to join him. After some adjustments to his band Slash's Snakepit made a new album Ain't life Grand on October 10, 2000. They even got the chance to open for AC/DC before touring which gave them huge exposure. after their last performance in July 2001 Slash's Snakepit officially disbanded. Slash wanted to go solo but he just couldn't help playing with old band mates. Slash then turned his jam sessions into another band dubbed Velvet Revolver. Slash would now go on to make many albums with Velvet Revolver and win a Grammy for best rock performance. Slash was also asked to be in Guitar Hero III which he gladly accepted
